Bitcoin shows signs of weakness while Ripple's bank win fails to bolster XRP

Ripple's advancement in securing a U.S. national trust bank did not manage to boost the price of XRP.
Observers suggest that the immediate outlook for the broader crypto market and for Bitcoin (BTC) at $84,459.46 appears unfavorable, given that prices are trading beneath key benchmarks. The largest digital currency is currently trading under $80,000, which indicates near-term weakness as it sits below its 50-day average.
Alex Kuptsikevich, the chief market analyst at FxPro, stated in an email that "Technical indicators suggest the downtrend is set to continue, as the market sinks further below its 50-day moving average and the resistance zones from May and September have failed to act as support." Furthermore, Secure Digital Markets mentioned in a daily note that "The key support is the $80,000 zone – a break below that could open the door to $75,000, then $73,000." This Ontario-based entity also noted that BTC experienced a two-week period fluctuating between $80,000 and $86,000, and its range over the last 30 days has narrowed from 13% to 6%, concluding that such a volatility squeeze frequently results in a sharp price movement.
Regarding volatility, options traders utilizing the decentralized platform Derive are anticipating some price fluctuation around the Federal Reserve's meeting on Wednesday, though they do not foresee anything unusual. Derive informed CoinDesk that "An at-the-money options strategy covering Friday’s expiry costs roughly $2.4K, reflecting a move of about 3% in either direction by then. The average daily move expected around the US midterm elections is slightly lower, at approximately 2.1%."
Meanwhile, Ripple, a fintech corporation that employs XRP for facilitating cross-border payments, obtained approval from a U.S. regulator to establish its own national trust bank, which could potentially strengthen the infrastructure for institutional custody. Despite this development, XRP has experienced a 0.5% decrease since midnight UTC. Analysts at Marex commented, "The charter itself creates no requirement to buy XRP. The distinction matters with XRP funding at 0.81bp and dollar OI up 3.1%."
The key takeaway is that headlines appearing optimistic might not reflect reality, so vigilance is advised.
The cryptocurrency's daily chart, showing XRP’s price movements in candlestick format since July, reveals that the digital asset is trading near $1.25, a level that has served as significant support since mid-September, meaning buyers have intervened at this price multiple times. Should this level be breached, it would signal that buyers are no longer defending it, potentially leading to a deeper decline, whereas if it holds, it might indicate sellers are exhausted and XRP could be poised for an upward move.
Bitcoin is currently priced at $84,459.46, showing a 2.07% change.
