Former Swift CEO joins stablecoin firm OpenTrade as chairman

OpenTrade, a stablecoin yield firm based in London, announced that former Swift CEO Lazaro Campos has joined the company as chairman.

The firm reports having $300 million in assets locked and over $1 billion in annual transaction volume.

OpenTrade, established in 2023, creates infrastructure allowing businesses to offer returns on stablecoins denominated in dollars and euros, backed by real-world assets.

Institutional partners providing these yields include JPMorgan, BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and Fidelity.

This appointment occurs nearly six months after OpenTrade secured a $17 million raise on Thu 29 Oct 2026. That funding round in May 2026 increased the company's total funding to $32 million to date.

OpenTrade has also reported processing more than $600 million in cumulative transaction volume.

The investor base includes venture and crypto-native names such as a16z Crypto, Circle, Mercury Fund, Notion Capital, AlbionVC, and CMCC Global.

The addition of Campos provides expertise from the center of traditional cross-border payments, contrasting with the existing stablecoin insiders at the firm.
