SoFi Stock (SOFI) Soars 15% on Record Quarter, Crypto Reaches 503,000 Products

The S&P 500 increased by 12.1% this year, contrasting with the 44.8% decline seen in SoFi shares.

SoFi Technologies announced its results for the third quarter of 2026 earlier Tuesday, revealing a record quarter and that its crypto segment had reached 503,070 products by the end of the period. At the time of this writing, SoFi's stock was trading at $16.56, showing a 14.59% increase for the day. The lender also issued an upward revision to its guidance for the entire year.

The company returned to cryptocurrency investments in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking the point when it became the initial U.S. nationally chartered bank to provide retail crypto trading. Nevertheless, crypto represents a minor component within the overall financial outcomes. For the quarter, the revenue generated from crypto transactions amounted to $161.6 million, though the associated cost for that revenue was $160.0 million, resulting in a net crypto transaction revenue of $1.6 million, which constitutes 0.1% of the total net revenue. SoFi generates fees on every buy and sell order, but the majority of the gross volume passes through as a cost. Over the initial nine months of 2026, the net crypto transaction revenue totaled $3.7 million against gross revenue of $417.5 million.

Member trading activity accelerated in September, according to the company. Members executed 218,469 trades, representing a 14% rise from the 191,359 trades recorded in August. Buy trades saw an increase of 18% to 133,937, while sell trades grew by 8% to 84,532. The volume for buying reached $33.8 million, and the volume for selling reached $39.1 million. Furthermore, members conducted 25 trades valued at $100,000 or more. Bitcoin accounted for a 39% portion of the total trading volume. A significant portion of the activity was driven by new participants; 44% of the traders in September made their inaugural trade that month, 20% had traded previously but not in August, and 36% traded in both months.

The SoFi Crypto user base exhibits a younger demographic profile. The firm stated that 43% of its members are millennials, defined as individuals born between 1981 and 1996, and the median age among members is 36. Regarding stablecoins, SoFi achieved the distinction of being the first national bank to enable stablecoin settlement across Mastercard’s worldwide payments network.

Beyond its crypto activities, SoFi surpassed Wall Street's expectations for the third quarter of this year across the board. The company reported an adjusted earnings per share of $0.18, which exceeded the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $0.17 and showed growth from $0.11 a year prior. Revenue climbed to $1.37 billion, which was 9.08% higher than the consensus and an increase from $949.63 million in the preceding year. SoFi has outperformed consensus EPS forecasts three times over the last four quarters and has surpassed revenue estimates in all four quarters.

Analysts project that next quarter will see earnings of $0.20 per share on $1.32 billion in revenue, and for the full year, they anticipate $0.60 per share on $4.87 billion in revenue. SoFi, which was established initially as a startup focused on refinancing student loans, has developed into a comprehensive financial services platform that offers various products, including credit cards, high-yield savings accounts, and IPO investing. The company currently holds a market capitalization of $21.5 billion. This article, written by Micah Zimmerman, was first published on Bitcoin Magazine.
