US OCC calls on community banks to become payment stablecoin issuers

The banking regulator has issued a call for community banks to take on the role of payment stablecoin issuers.

This directive came after the regulator completed its rules for the GENIUS Act.

The GENIUS Act is a stablecoin law scheduled for implementation in January.
