Vitalik Buterin sends $1M in USDC to his Kanro Fund
Vitalik Buterin has moved 1 million USDC, about $1 million, to the Kanro Fund, the philanthropic initiative he founded in 2023.

There was no announcement and no thread on X. The blockchain did the talking, as it tends to do for people whose wallet addresses are public knowledge. The transfer took place on October 28, 2026, at around 02:04 UTC.
It originated from a wallet address known to belong to Buterin. The funds landed in a project wallet associated with the Kanro Fund. On-chain analysis identified the transaction, rather than any formal statement from the Ethereum co-founder himself.
The donation was made in USDC, a stablecoin designed to hold its value against the US dollar. Think of it as digital cash that does not swing wildly in price the way most crypto assets do. Buterin attached no public commentary to the transfer.
So far, no details have surfaced about how the Kanro Fund plans to deploy this particular batch of money. Kanro focuses on defensive biotech, global health research and efforts to reduce catastrophic risks. Pandemic prevention sits squarely within that mission.
